The Yellow Dot Art Exhibition
About event
The yellow dot exhibition began as a channelling of frustrated anger and hunger caused by a succession of planetary scale economic and energy related crisis, I fell equally smack in the middle of the recession that hit the world. The advertising and creative industries felt the stroke first.
I found myself jobless, in ...a house without electricity (land lady action) and sometimes no running water.
With the computer, the radio, the keyboard and even the blender all rendered useless, I was left with only two options....to write and to paint.
This was a time of long hot and dark nights, being mostly a nocturnal person I often caught myself lying at night staring at a deep dark nothing, once in a while I would in the darkness; in the periphery of my eye see a yellow dot....maybe it was, the candle i wrote with sometimes...maybe it was something else (the candle wasn't always on)
I began painting in ernest as there was nothing else to do, where as most of my previous collections have been in black and white this was the first series i was working on that was entirely in color...it was a turning point in my visual growth.
After two and a half months without electricity, i was the proud father of some twenty pieces in different stages of completion.
This exhibition is about the small things we take for granted the small dot in the sky we call the Sun, the tungsten bulb that lights up our corridor, the smiley sticker on your car, the pimple on the face of the girl you love...these little things are but a few examples of the interesting turning points in social activity and productivity. In an ever changing environment, change being affected by the decisions man kind makes today. our energy needs are ever increasing on a planet where resources are scarce and few in between.
The Yellow Dot is a reminder of these moments in time and space that we so easily dismiss and a reminder that should we want to leave a heritage of love the time to act is now.

“heaRing the skies”- Exhibition
About event
In this new exhibition, “heaRing the skies” Fatric Bewong suggests that such abstract auditory entities as sounds and noises can be interpreted tangibly on canvas in nuanced flourishes, and chromatic silences. The work is located in a contemporary visual cultural space that has had several relations to... music as a form. Fatric’s own delving into the work of Miles Davis is made evident in the paintings. As part of the exhibition opening Nii Noi Nortey and Fatric will be performing together. The exhibition will be officially opened by Dr. Esi Sutherland-Addy.

CONCERT-Haiti: Ghana Responds.
About event
? Friends of Haiti, Ghana, a group of public spirited Ghanaians, deeply saddened by events in Haiti, is mounting a fundraising campaign to raise 2 Million Ghana cedis for victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Funds will go to support the Ghana Red Cross Society?s contribution to the International Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.
THE FRIENDS OF HAITI, GHANA CAMPAIGN
The campaign consists of a star-studded benefit concert in solidarity with the People of Haiti which will be staged at Alliance Francaise on Saturday the 23rd of January; and an SMS campaign aimed at raising GHC2MILLION through a well-planned series of appeals to kind-hearted and conscientious Ghanaians. The venue for the concert has been donated by Alliance Francaise, with all the billed artistes also performing free of charge.
Already there has been an outpouring of concern from the Ghanaian public, shocked at the plight of their sisters and brothers in Haiti, and a great willingness to help Haiti in diverse ways. Friends of Haiti, Ghana urge all Ghanaians to show that Ghana can lead the way in responding to a crisis that affects our brothers and sisters in the diaspora. To help, Ghanaians can attend the benefit concert on Saturday, January 23, 2010 and also make a donation of 1 Ghana cedi to the Ghana Red Cross by texting ?Haiti? to 1962. We urge each Ghanaian with access to a mobile phone to donate as often as possible. In addition, we urge that every Ghanaian who donates also try to encourage others to do so.
Cheques should be made payable to the ?Ghana Red Cross Society? and the Ghana Red Cross Haiti Fund, A/C no. 10100102 Standard Chartered Bank, High Street.
