Ambassador of France, Pierre Jacquemot and his wife Catherine, hosted Art in the Garden 9.  Eleven artists presented large-scale sculptural works ranging from futuristic furniture made from recycled plastics by Tei Huagie, installations by Akirash, the fantasy coffins of Paa Joe and the wooden sculptures of up-and-coming artist Ray Claver.

Musical Bells of Accra
Statement by the composer and artist Nii Noi Nortey on  the “Accra Trane Station” Sound Sculptures.

“Accra Trane Station” is the name of a series of about twenty sound sculptures inspired by and
named for musical compositions or albums by the saxophonist John Coltrane. I was making
sculptures like this for some time, but it was the music of John Coltrane that led to the present focus
on sculptures that sound.
