place at Cantonments Circle
(Togo Circle)
on 10th of February 2007 under the motto “14 banners for 14 trees”. Observed
from the side of the road by two police officers, the activists assembled in
the middle of the roundabout.

 Art in the Garden 11 Charity Owusu-Danso is a
young lady in a beautifully coloured outfit. She is more of an artist in life
than a professional in visual works. But she painted a couple of pictures in a
recent workshop and enjoyed doing so. One of them is numbered “20 B” and shows
a boat in the middle of a blue ocean, carrying a competent crew of many. “Help
is here” reads the name on the outside of the ship.

 Living Gold Hosted by Teresa Roskiewicz, an established artist, and her husband Don Bobiash, the High Commissioner of Canada, Art in the Garden 10 featured an impressive collection of paintings, sculpture and installations by 15 innovative artists in the beautiful setting of the High Commission’ers residence. Participating artists included Teresa Rozkiewicz, Virginia Ryan, Adwoa Amoah, Fernand Nonkouni, Akindiya Rasheed Olaniyi, Reginaldo Goncalves, Isaac Awuley Addico, Bolaji Aremu, Bafour Gyasi, Folush Akomolede, Kola Joseph, Bright Dankyi Mensah, Kuoku Adee Frimpong, Ray Claver and Lydia Dike. |

Ambassador of France, Pierre Jacquemot and his wife Catherine, hosted Art in the Garden 9. Eleven artists presented large-scale sculptural works ranging from futuristic furniture made from recycled plastics by Tei Huagie, installations by Akirash, the fantasy coffins of Paa Joe and the wooden sculptures of up-and-coming artist Ray Claver. |

11th February 2006 Musical Bells of Accra
Statement by the composer and artist Nii Noi Nortey on the “Accra Trane Station” Sound Sculptures. “Accra Trane Station” is the name of a series of about twenty sound sculptures inspired by and named for musical compositions or albums by the saxophonist John Coltrane. I was making sculptures like this for some time, but it was the music of John Coltrane that led to the present focus on sculptures that sound. |
