My Profile

Galle Winston Kofi Dawson (BA,1965) is an active member of FCA and the Ghana Association of Visual Artists. A graduate of the College of Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Kumasi Ghana) and The Slade in London UK, Galle Winston Kofi Dawson has been working as a civil servant and artist for over twenty five years. Pensioned in 2000 from information Service Exhibitions Section, Dawson now works in sketching, drawing, portraits, and print, as well as installations - his current projects include craft-making of shell ants and bamboo/rattan art brushes.

Dawson’s paintings tend to hold the attention of the viewer as he captures the spirits of his subjects with an exotic use of colours and movement that draws art lovers into his own world and fantasy.

Indeed, the totality of his sketches when measured geographically can be unraveled in long distances straight line – his path could conceivably span. In recent times Dawson exposes the beauty, joy and happiness he sees around despite the difficulties, hardships and troubles facing several African societies. Dawson has been published in RAL Covers, Bambolse, Zing Magazine, ACASA Newsletter, Graphic Showbiz, Akwaaba and Ghana Airways Calendar for 2003.

He has participated in a number of workshops including those organized by Pan African Circle of Artists, Art in Action and ARTHaus. He has exhibited in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Senegal, Nigeria and several parts of Ghana.
